Triaminic Softchews Throat Pain & Cough (Acetaminophen Dextromethorphan HBr Pseudoephedrine HCl)
How do you rate this drug's effectiveness?
Pharmacology Acetaminophen produces analgesia and antipyresis by a mechanism similar to that of the salicylates.
Dextromethorphan is an antitussive. It is comparable to codeine in depressing the cough reflex. It has no expectorant action.
Pseudoephedrine is a nasal decongestant. It acts directly on the a-adrenergic receptors in the mucosa of the respiratory tract producing vasoconstriction. The medication shrinks swollen nasal mucous membranes, reduces tissue hyperemia, edema and nasal congestion, and increases nasal airway patency. Drainage of sinus secretions may be increased and obstructed eustachian ostia may be opened.
